ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The MJS Foundation, Inc, is a private family foundation formed in 2011 to further the philanthropic goals of its founders, Marilyn and Jim Simons. The Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of New Yorkers, with a particular focus on those in need. Its philanthropic priorities include education, culture, and social services in New York City; autism, special education, and related services; healthcare, including mental health; and limited support for the Stony Brook–area community.
The MJS Foundation also provides management support to three additional foundations: the Nick Simons Foundation (NSF), Nick Simons Foundation International (NSFI), and Foundation for a Just Society International (FJSI). Through service agreements with MJS, the Office Operations Intern will support all program, administrative, and grants management operations of MJS, NSF and FJSI.
The Simons Foundation is an affiliated organization of the MJS Foundation and shares the same founders.
POSITION SUMMARY
The MJS Foundation administration team is seeking an intern interested in learning about the day-to-day operations of a small nonprofit foundation. This role offers hands-on exposure to office operations, facilities management, event support, vendor coordination, and basic accounts payable functions.
The Office Operations Intern will work onsite in our offices in New York City. The expected schedule is Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with one-hour unpaid lunch break). This internship is expected to run from June 1 until August 13, 2026.
