Position Summary

RSI is recruiting for an Intern - Engineering who will assist with developing a conceptual design for the engineering and construction aspects of a disposal cell closure project. Design will include development of a 3D model and conceptual level construction plans using Autocad and Civil3D software. The design activities will include final grading of the site, calculation of earthwork volumes, quantifying stockpiled material sources, evaluating potential material site locations, and producing conceptual level construction plans including plan view, profiles, and cross sections.

Hiring Range: $18.02 to $21.00 per hour. (The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

This position is required to travel up to 10% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize Autocad and Civil3D design software.
  • Develop 3D models of existing and proposed conditions for the disposal cell site.
  • Calculate earthwork material quantities.
  • Produce conceptual level design plans for construction featuring plan views, profiles, and cross sections.
  • Update Autocad and 3D models representing existing site conditions, including site infrastructure, buildings and buried utilities.
  • Attend limited number of site visits to the Grand Junction disposal site for design activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience

  • Completion of 60 credit hours prior to start of internship towards an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • No relevant experience required.
  • Must have experience and/or course work covering hydrology and geotechnical and civil design experience.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • No professional certification required.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Experience Microsoft office including but not limited to Excel and Word.
  • Experience and proficiency with Autocad and Civil3D design software.

Clearance and Health Requirements

  • Criminal Background Check
  • Pre-placement Drug Screening
  • Fit for Duty Test (if applicable)

Essential Physical RequirementsĀ 

Medium: Work involves moving objects by exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an above-negligible amount and up to 10 pounds constantly. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light work.
