Role Overview
Fabrication Staff at Spearhead are responsible for the skilled execution of complex fabrication work on high-quality architectural projects. This role combines traditional woodworking craftsmanship with modern fabrication techniques to deliver exceptional results that meet Spearhead's standards and reputation.

When not supporting work on the new manufacturing facility, this role provides support on core Spearhead projects, maintaining the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Fabrication Staff work as part of an interdisciplinary team, applying their specialized skills to cut, shape, assemble, and finish wood components for diverse project scales. This role supports aspects of the expansion project, including a focus on acoustic paneling. The role will collaborate closely with Job Leads, Senior Job Leads, Finishers, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution through to delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute complex fabrication tasks on architectural projects with precision and attention to detail
- Cut, shape, mill, and assemble wood components using both traditional hand tools and modern fabrication equipment
- Attach machined wood members to prefabricated steel components in hybrid construction assemblies
- Work from technical drawings, digital models, and fabrication specifications
- Maintain Spearhead's standards of quality, consistency, and craftsmanship in all fabricated components
- Apply problem-solving skills to overcome fabrication challenges while maintaining project specifications
- Execute tasks efficiently while maintaining focus on superior craftsmanship
- Work effectively as part of project teams across all shops (TW, K2, Machine shop)
- Communicate clearly with Job Leads, Senior Job Leads, and team members about project progress and challenges
- Participate in project meetings and provide input on fabrication processes and timelines
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Fabrication department
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols and using appropriate PPE
- Operate fabrication equipment and tools safely and efficiently
- Keep work areas clean and maintain equipment in good working condition
- Support shop organization and inventory management as needed
- Provide guidance and support to Fabrication Interns and junior team members
- Contribute to training initiatives and knowledge sharing within the department

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Attributes
- Post-secondary education in carpentry, woodworking, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience in high-end carpentry, architectural woodworking, or custom fabrication
- Strong technical knowledge of woodworking processes, joinery techniques, and finishing methods
- Experience with both traditional hand tools and modern fabrication equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, digital models, and fabrication specifications
- Understanding of wood properties, grain direction, and material selection
- Experience with precision measuring, marking, and cutting techniques
- Knowledge of quality control standards and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Commitment to safety protocols and best practices
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Understanding of project workflows and resource needs
Schedule and Working Conditions
- Ability to work 7:30-5:15, Monday – Thursday, with a 15-minute paid coffee break and a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day, and every second Friday from 7:30-4:00, with a 15-minute paid coffee break and a 30-minute unpaid lunch each day
- Ability to work on-site at Spearhead headquarters
- Manual dexterity to operate finishing tools on a regular basis
- Ability to stand and move around the fabrication shop for work shifts
- Ability to work in a workshop with exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise using required PPE, as needed
- Ability to move and carry materials up to 50 lbs on a regular basis

Compensation
- Pay range $28-$35 per hour commensurate with experience and qualifications
- 6% Vacation pay
