Continuous Improvement Engineer Intern will support implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles throughout all operations/processes.

The Summer 2026 internship program will begin on June 1st and run approximately 10 to 12 weeks, with anticipated end dates of August 14th or August 28th depending on availability. Interns will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; work hours may be flexible.


Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to 

  • Create Value Stream Maps for identified manufacturing processes
  • Investigation, experiment, and implement process improvements to maximize productivity
  • Lead improvement activities working with teams identified through the VSM’s
  • Conduct and participate in Kaizen events, as required
  • Conduct 6S audits, as required
  • Support Gemba process activities, as required

 

 

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required to Perform in this Position:

  • Basic Lean 6 Sigma methodologies, a plus 
  • Basic knowledge manufacturing principles and methods, a plus
  • Must be able to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Must be hands on and comfortable interfacing with plant personnel and operators
  • Understanding of basic problem-solving tools (DMAIC, PDCA, Fish Bone, and 5Why), a plus   

 

Education Level Desired:

  • A.S / B.S. Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related Engineering/Engineering Technology Degree or demonstrated experience in a similar Manufacturing environment. 


Prior Experience Desired:

  • 0-3 years’ experience 
  • Basic Lean 6 Sigma methodologies 
  • Strong computer and analytical skills
  • Assembly and/or manufacturing shop floor experience is a plus
  • General basic manufacturing processes

The work environment conditions are typical of both an office and a manufacturing environment.
