FMNE Insurance is seeking two openings for Interns in our Underwriting Department This is a paid internship for the summer of 2026, offering hands-on, real-world experience, along with the added benefit of free off-site parking. This employer will not sponsor any work visas for any applicant of this position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Please supply a cover letter and resume. Role Overview of an Underwriting Intern:  

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, supporting the underwriting team in risk assessment, quality control, data quality, and maintaining underwriting data for internal systems. Their duties are performed under supervisory guidance and review. 

Responsibilities of an Underwriting Intern:

  • Demonstrates the Company’s mission, while successfully performing its core values related to integrity, service, excellence, stability, strength, respect, and teamwork.
  • Assist with evaluating applications and endorsement requests in accordance with Company rules and guidelines.
  • Assist with quality control of daily underwriting workflows.
  • Assist with data cleanup and quality projects.
  • Gain understanding of underwriting rules and guidelines.
  • Support underwriters in daily tasks and decision making.
  • Handle straight forward underwriting changes.
  • Regular and timely attendance in the office is an essential function of the position.

Skills and Qualifications of an Underwriting Intern:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; working towards college degree.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with agents and insured parties via phone, email, written correspondence, and in-person meetings.
  • Proficient in using a personal computer, including familiarity with standard business software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed, precise work, take ownership of responsibilities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet time deadlines and follow guidance provided.
