Organization Overview
Mission: To create hope and nourish lives through a powerful hunger relief network, while multiplying the generosity of a caring community.
Vision: Inspiring and engaging our community to end hunger.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects, stores and distributes donated food to more than 800 feeding partners in seven Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Last year, with the help of numerous donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributed nearly 82 million meals to partner programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, women’s shelters, senior centers, day care centers and Kids Cafes.
In addition to helping feed our neighbors facing hunger, Second Harvest also transforms dozens of lives directly every year. Economically-challenged adults who graduate from our 16-week culinary training program are placed in ‘better than minimum wage’ jobs that set them and their families on a path to self-sufficiency. Another important activity helps connect people who are eligible to receive SNAP food assistance benefits with the resources they need to access the program and get help.
Position Overview
The Development Team at Second Harvest leads the aspects of fund development for our rapidly growing organization through: annual campaigns, capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, planned and deferred giving, major gifts, signature fundraising and third party events, cause related marketing campaigns, advocacy, digital fundraising, event management, public relations, marketing, social media, stewardship and more. The Events Intern will work closely with the Events Specialist, Corporate Partnerships Manager and Director of Philanthropy. We look forward to tailoring some responsibilities and experiences to the Intern’s natural strengths and interests (e.g. Fund-raising events, graphic design, blog and business writing, volunteer management, training, social media, etc.) This internship is for the Spring 2026 Semester.
