The JCPRD Natural Resource Internship provides an opportunity for college students and recent graduates to gain real world experience in natural area management.

The internship is designed to provide a broad set of skills that aren't available in the classroom including: 

- Native seed collection and processing with community partners.

- Instruction and operation of Utility Terrain Vehicles, Tractors, and Forestry equipment.

- Invasive plant removal, chemical mixing, and safe herbicide use.

- ArcGIS and natural resource data collection. 

-Wildlife/Fisheries tasks and Prescribed Fire opportunities if available. 

What you bring to the Internship:

• Ability to work outdoors. 
• Energy and enthusiasm for field work. 
• Coursework in natural resources, ecology, environmental science or a related field. 
• Valid Driver's License

• Minimum age 18 years and older. 
• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• An Interest in natural resource management with preference given to individuals with advanced course work in the field.
• Must possess valid driver’s license and have a good driving record verified through a background check.
• Ability to work outdoors and tolerate the climate and conditions of natural areas typical to NE Kansas.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions.  Specified criteria may vary by Department.
