JOB SUMMARY:

The Marketing Intern supports the Marketing department by coordinating marketing efforts among branches, members, and the communities MY CREDIT UNION serves. The candidate will support and enhance the organization's internal communication systems while working to promote external communications through the development of newsletters, advertising along with other digital and printed materials and sales literature. Maintain brand integrity and consistency in all internal and external communications. This position will also support a wide variety of member-facing and non-member-facing events and activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Assist with marketing communications both internal and external facing – print & digital channels 
  2. Ensure internal and external communication messages are consistent with each other and across all channels and comply with all Federal, State and industry rules and regulations.
  3. Ensure all communication is not only well-written, but also grammatically correct (including spelling)
  4. Maintain inventory of marketing materials and collateral (including SWAG). Reorder as needed. 
  5. Assist in maintaining file records of all printed materials and master copies. Ensure all documents and forms created and maintained by the marketing department are up to date.
  6. Coordinate staff volunteers and communication for events, campaigns, and other projects.
  7. Support relationships and communication with outside vendors as needed.
  8. Assist with Adventure Club by registering members, tracking registration for trips, and responding to member questions.
  9. Facilitate activities of the HoneyBee Club and the Bee Team planning committee.
  10. Support the annual "Fall Classic” Cornhole Tournament and other activities of the MY CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY FOUNDATION as needed.
  11. Support Retirement & Investment Solutions representative and its marketing communication needs
  12. Support TruLync Medicare Advisor and any other third-party vendor relationships that need to be marketed to members and/or non-members
  13. Assist in planning, executing & staffing seminars, and events both member- facing and in the community 
  14. Coordinate, notify and track employee business development opportunities (i.e. Chamber events, school events, sponsorship events, etc....)
  15. Actively cross sells and maintains up-to-date knowledge on all products and services.  Attend internal training classes offered to frontline staff to enhance product and service knowledge as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 

  1. Associate or higher Degree in Marketing/Graphic Design or equivalent.

Experience: 

  1. 2 years or more of experience in credit union Marketing or Business Development preferred.
  2. Experience with graphics design and social media marketing.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  1. Outgoing self-starting personality. Ability to work independently, without supervision at times. But also be able to accept direction and feedback provided by key stakeholders.
  2. Ability to learn new programs or systems as needed.
  3. Must have own transportation and the ability to travel and provide staff support of occasional evening and weekend events.
  1. Possess excellent writing, verbal and non-verbal communication skills (not reliant on Chatbot or other means.) Ability to speak effectively to members and employees of the organization. 
  1. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  2. Knowledge of credit union industry laws and regulations as it pertains to marketing
  3. Knowledge of printing, layout, and design of newsletters and other printed materials.
  1. Ability to read and interpret basic forms, credit union documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 
  1. Desire, ability and experience in working with and helping people in a professional setting with a professional business appearance.
  2. Proficiently operate a computer. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system. Ability to use copy machine, fax machine, typewriter, printer and general office equipment.
  3. Must be well organized.

EQUIPMENT USED:

  • Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office Suite, 10-Key Calculator, Computer
  • Adobe Creative Suite or similar software


MENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Effort:

  1. Able to manage multiple requests at the same time.
  2. Able to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful circumstances.

Physical Requirements:

  1. The employee must be able to lift 35 pounds.
  2. The employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods; use their hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  3. The employee must be able to read from a computer screen and enter data with the use of a keyboard.

Working Conditions:

  1. Stress varies depending on workflow from high to low.
  2. Travel between offices will be required.
  3. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
  4. Some overnight travel may be required if traveling with the Adventure Club events.
  5. This is NOT a remote position – expected to be on-site and in the office daily.
