The City of Mount Vernon is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual for a summer internship opportunity within the Law Director’s Office. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in a professional legal environment while assisting attorneys and legal assistants with a variety of administrative and office support tasks. Interns will gain exposure to municipal government operations and legal processes while contributing to the daily functions of the department.
Example of Duties
Assisting attorneys and legal assistants with administrative and clerical tasks.
Preparing, organizing, and filing legal and office documents.
Assisting with data entry, record keeping, and document management.
Conducting basic research and compiling information as requested.
Providing general office support including answering phones and responding to inquiries.
Assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Current enrollment in an accredited college or university preferred.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with standard office software and technology preferred.
