Job Summary
The NASCAR Hall of Fame is offering a summer internship in the Museum and Industry Affairs department.Ā
The NASCAR Hall of Fame (NHOF) is an interactive entertainment attraction located in Charlotte, North Carolina honoring the history and heritage of NASCAR. The high-tech venue, designed to educate and entertain race fans and non-fans alike, includes multiple stories of exhibits which feature artifact displays, digital and physical interactives, several small open theaters, and a 278-person theater.
The Museum Collections intern will work primarily with the Curator of Collections and will contribute to projects aimed at cataloging, researching, and describing artifacts.Ā

Job ResponsibilitiesĀ
Ā
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn to how to catalog museum and archival collections in the MuseumPlus collection management system.
- Learn how to write detailed catalog descriptions and link items to people and places.
- Learn how to research NASCAR-related objects and put them in historical context.
- Learn how to handle artifacts and proper marking techniques for different types of objects.Ā
- Assist in prepping still image collections for digitization ā physical arrangement and metadata development.
Additional internship activities:
- Meet with people in other departments to be exposed to the different careers within the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
- When available on the schedule, participate in artifact gathering trips.
- When available on the schedule, participate in exhibition deinstallation and installation.
- Sit in on Museum and Industry Affairs departmental meetings.
- Hands-on experience in collections management within a professional museum environment focused on NASCAR.
- Mentorship and guidance from experienced museum professionals.
- Potential for academic credit, depending on the requirements of the intern's educational institution.

Knowledge, Education, and Skill Requirements
Ā
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant academic program such as Museum Studies, History, Public History, Photography, or a related field.
- Enthusiasm to work with museum collections.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Completed coursework in museum studies, archives, or material culture is advantageous but not required.
