Overview

Phipps Houses is one of the nation’s oldest and largest not-for-profit developer/owners of affordable housing. It is a multi-faceted real estate organization, involved in the development, finance, construction and asset management of new and rehabilitated multi-family housing for low to middle income New Yorkers. Through its subsidiary, Phipps Houses Services, Inc., it conducts residential and some commercial property management, and its tax exempt affiliate, Phipps Neighborhoods, provides human services to its development communities

 THE POSITION

The Finance Intern will report to and help provide support and assistance to the Vice President and Investment Officer. Entry level assistance to help support on tasks and projects. This internship position is a paid opportunity for 10 hours a week.

She or he must have a high level of attention to detail, ability to adapt to a fast-paced, continually evolving environment and thrive in a collaborative and team-oriented workplace. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Provide support for various reports and communicate concerns and suggestions to the Vice President and program team.
  • Assist in preparing presentations for management
  • Participate in step-by-step documentation of all reporting
  • Other assignments/projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • HSD/HSE Required; College Degree preferred
  • Strong working knowledge and use of MS Excel
  • Some basic experience and understanding of finance terminology required.
  • High level of communication skills required.
  • Any Finance or Accounting Software Experience a plus.
