The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is a public benefit corporation and the nation’s largest municipal Housing Finance Agency. HDC seeks to increase the supply of multi-family housing, stimulate economic growth, and revitalize neighborhoods by financing the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-, moderate-, and middle-income New Yorkers. HDC’s programs support the construction and preservation of multi-family affordable housing in New York City.
Position Summary:
The HR Intern will assist the Director, Human Resources & EEO Officer to support recruitment tracking, contribute to EEO reports, enhance I-9 compliance processes, and assist with general HR functions. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical, allowing the intern to take skills acquired in school and/or their areas of interest, and apply these skills in a professional setting.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain documents, checklists and/or spreadsheets related to projects assigned by HR team members.
- Review confidential HR files to ensure completeness of files, for regulatory and compliance purposes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition Specialists to streamline processes and improve applicant tracking system functionality.
- Support the HR team in streamlining administrative processes to enhance efficiency
- Assist with the recruitment process by preparing and distributing job postings to the appropriate platform.
- Collect and file documents as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, or non-profit management/administrative fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Student member of SHRM a plus.
