Engineering Intern I

About the Role

We are seeking an Engineering Intern to support the development and manufacturing of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) devices at RS Medical. This role offers hands-on engineering experience, including diagnostics, product investigations, equipment testing, and technical analysis. You’ll work alongside experienced engineering and operations teams, contributing to meaningful projects that directly support product quality and customer satisfaction.

This internship begins May 2026. The role is full-time during summer break and transitions to part-time when the intern returns to school. All work is performed on-site at our Vancouver, WA headquarters.

This is an excellent opportunity for students exploring a future in electronics engineering, manufacturing engineering, medical device development, or related fields.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct engineering experiments and investigations related to manufacturing equipment, processes, and product performance.
• Investigate customer-reported issues, including non-conforming products, product complaints, and device failures; document analyses and findings.
• Perform occasional circuit board and component repairs, including soldering and desoldering of electronic components.
• Install and operate computer-based diagnostic tools; analyze performance data and summarize results.
• Complete engineering investigation documentation, NCR reports, and other required quality paperwork.
• Follow all safety guidelines and use equipment properly.
• Perform other engineering or technical tasks as assigned.

What you Bring

• Currently enrolled in a two- or four-year accredited Engineering or Technology degree program, with at least one year of completed coursework (electronics emphasis preferred).
• Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and basic understanding of engineering principles.
• Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with teammates and vendors.
• Comfortable with basic math, record-keeping, and inventory-related tasks.
• Ability to use (and learn) manufacturing software and hardware tools.
• Must adhere to all safety procedures.

Additional Necessities

• Work occurs in a mixed warehouse/office environment.
• Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and use of hands.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Good vision (including color differentiation) and hearing.
• Ability to work near mechanical equipment, fumes, and airborne particles.
