Job Summary
The Engineering Intern supports product design, development, and testing activities through hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, documentation, and collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams. This role is responsible for conducting tests, collecting and analyzing data, assisting with prototype development, and contributing to continuous product and process improvements.
Job Description
- Set up and conduct routine and non-routine engineering tests

Collect, organize, analyze, and summarize test data and findings

Prepare concise technical reports including conclusions and recommendations

Assist engineers and technicians with complex testing procedures and reporting

Support validation testing for mechanical and electronic assemblies

Prepare conceptual sketches, engineering layouts, and detailed part drawings

Assist with product design updates and engineering documentation

Prepare test requests and fabrication requests for engineering projects

Support prototype assembly, disassembly, and laboratory test unit construction

Maintain accurate engineering notebooks documenting project activities

Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve product design issues

Review redlined production drawings and support process audits

Assist with Product Model Code updates and part number maintenance

Support continuous improvement initiatives and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) efforts

Update engineering and testing procedures, including safety documentation

Complete manufacturing and purchasing paperwork related to testing and prototyping
- Perform additional technical duties and special projects as assigned
Skills Required
- Experience with general testing using fluid mechanics and mechanical engineering principles
- Understanding of electronics and validation testing
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High ethical standards with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Positive, professional, and enthusiastic attitude
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with engineering calculations
- Experience with 3D modeling and CAD software
- Familiarity with: CNC machining, Fixturing, PLC systems, Manufacturing processes, Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
Education
- Currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree (Sophomore or Junior preferred)
Pay Rate

$25 per hour (Compensation is offered based on experience, skills, and market factors)
