General Job Description

MASABA has an exciting opportunity for an engineering intern at our facility in Vermillion, SD. We provide highly talented undergraduate students the opportunity to gain valuable, practical experience in a professional work environment.  Interns receive design/drafting experience and the ability to explore future professional opportunities all the while earning a competitive salary.       Interns perform project-focused assignments that provide hands-on experience.  As an intern, they will have the opportunity to contribute to our business and will be surrounded by people who are committed to helping them learn.  Internship participants increase their prospects for full-time positions upon graduation.

Responsibilities include: Creating complex models, layouts, drawings and sketches utilizing 2D and 3D CAD Systems; Designing parts and assemblies, provide drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials for fabricated materials as requested by engineers; Assisting the shop in solving problems related to assemblies or bills of material; Reviewing/using appropriate software to accomplish tasks

 

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Familiar with drafting standards, symbols, nomenclature, engineering terms, proper use of reference materials and vendor specifications related to a specific area of work
  • Knowledge and ability to read blueprints
  • Good shop math skills, fractions and decimals
  • Must be able to use standard measuring devices
  • Prepare clear, complete and accurate detail drawings from rough or detailed sketching, notes, or project wrap-ups
  • Review fabricated issues and wrap-ups; document appropriately
  • Implement and complete any design related functions per engineering
  • Design innovative products and improvements to support projects
  • Work on cost reduction or product enhancement projects
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have excellent attendance history.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends if requested.
  • Must be able to read and understand English.

7:30 AM - 5:00 PM with one hour lunch
Friday
7:30 AM - 3:00 PM with one hour lunch
