About the role
What you'll do
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Digitization: Imaging flat materials (photos, documents, publication, other archival materials) using a flatbed scanner and 3D objects utilizing a DSLR camera. Along with imaging, this includes some light photo editing using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Preservation: Creation of Preservation files for long-term digital preservation and Access files for general reference use.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Object handling: assisting the team with moving museum objects.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Data input: Inputting data into databases and collection management systems (AirTable and Qi).
Qualifications
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Current student or recent graduate majoring in archival studies, library science, history, historic preservation, museum studies, anthropology, or another related field.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Interest in archives, museums, and digital preservation
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Willingness to learn new computer applications (Qi, AirTable, Adobe, Epson Scan, etc)
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Ability to work independently or with others
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Excellent attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Knowledge of FADGI standards and other archival preservation practices
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Coursework in archives and collections management
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Experience with Adobe Create Suite or other photo editing software
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Experience with photography and digitization equipment
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Familiarity with archival collection management systems such as PastPerfect, ArchiveSpace, CollectionsSpace, CatalogIt, Qi
