Position Overview

Mamaya Health is seeking compassionate, motivated graduate counseling interns who are passionate about learning and providing exceptional client care. As a Counseling Intern, you will provide outpatient psychotherapy under the supervision of experienced licensed clinicians while developing your clinical skills in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Interns receive ongoing supervision, mentorship, and exposure to a variety of clinical presentations while gaining experience with evidence-based treatment, ethical practice, and outpatient behavioral health operations.


What You'll Learn

During your internship, you'll have opportunities to:

  • Develop competency in conducting intake assessments and ongoing psychotherapy
  • Strengthen diagnostic and treatment planning skills
  • Apply evidence-based interventions in clinical practice
  • Gain experience using measurement-based care and standardized assessments
  • Learn documentation and ethical standards for outpatient behavioral health
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary providers and care teams
  • Receive regular supervision, consultation, and clinical feedback


Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, couples, and/or family therapy under the supervision of a licensed clinician, in accordance with your university requirements and scope of training.
  • Maintain a weekly clinical schedule that meets both university internship requirements and Mamaya Health expectations.
  • Complete clinical documentation accurately and within organizational timeframes.
  • Develop treatment plans and monitor client progress with supervisor guidance.
  • Utilize measurement-based care tools and standardized assessments when appropriate.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision, case consultation, and training activities.
  • Coordinate care with other providers and supports when clinically appropriate.
  • Attend required team meetings, training, and internship-related educational opportunities.
  • Maintain professional, ethical, and culturally responsive standards of care.


Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Master's program in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Eligible to complete a clinical counseling internship as required by your academic program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical, client-centered, and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn, seek feedback, and actively engage in clinical supervision.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice.
  • Interest in women's mental health, perinatal mental health, trauma, relationships, grief and loss, perimenopause/menopause, or other Mamaya specialty populations.Β
