Business Data Analytics Intern

Overview

The Business Data Analyst Intern will support the data analytics team in building reports, analyzing data, and helping generate insights for internal teams as well as clients. This role is designed for someone looking to gain hands-on experience working with business data, dashboards, and analytics tools in a commercial business intelligence setting. The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, and interested in learning how to translate data into clear business insights.

This internship is a temporary, part-time position (around 24 hours per week) for the summer.

Minimum required: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

Span of Control:

Reports to: Manager, Business Data Analytics

Oversight:  This position has no direct reports

Roles/ Responsibilities

• Assist in gathering, cleaning, and organizing data from various sources
• Support the creation of reports, dashboards, presentations, and concise written summaries of trends
• Help analyze customer and business data to identify trends, patterns, and basic business insights
• Work with team members to understand business needs and translate them into data tasks and clear reporting outputs
• Conduct basic research to support data-driven recommendations
• Assist in testing and validating data for accuracy and quality
• Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and business teams on ongoing projects
• Learn and support tools used for reporting and analytics (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
• Help summarize KPI movement in plain business language for internal stakeholders and client-facing materials

Qualifications

Required

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Basic understanding of data analysis concepts and business intelligence reporting
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to synthesize information rather than only describe data

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Exposure to SQL, Python, or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
• Interest in business intelligence or data analytics in a commercial setting
• Interest in hospitality, especially hotels and travel agencies
• Internship or project experience working with data

Physical Demands/  Travel required

Work associated with this position is sedentary in nature and performed indoors at a desk either remotely or in an office setting.

Travel for this position is less than 10%.
