As a System Engineering Intern (16 months), you’ll be a valued member of the Atura Power System Plant Engineering Team located at our Oakville head office. This is a great opportunity to join the team which provides engineering support to the facilities including lifecycle planning, regulatory compliance, maintenance program optimization, project and outage support, and implementation of business improvement projects. Our team is responsible for the implementation of world class operating and maintenance strategies, programs, systems, processes, and tools to existing power assets in collaboration with the operation and maintenance departments.
During your internship (May 4, 2026 – September 3, 2027), you will be exposed to Atura's entire portfolio of power generation assets, several engineering functions, and the programs utilized to manage them.
The primary function of this role is to provide support to the team of system engineers as required and described in the responsibilities below:
• Draft equipment lifecycle plans for various systems across the fleet
• Support NERC regulatory compliance by generating guidelines, organizing documentation, and tracking compliance tasks
• Support continuous improvement projects and initiatives
• Work closely with the plant engineer, system engineers, and project managers to support ongoing engineering and project work
• Provide engineering support for the planning and execution of plant outages, overhauls, and other capital projects
• Assist in generating technical specifications, reports, policies, procedures, quick reference guides and process documents
• Travel (up to 20%) to facilities to aid plant engineers, system engineers, and project managers with engineering and project work as needed
• Generate, compile and report (e.g., create Power BI dashboards) on various datasets (e.g., plant operational data, report findings / recommendations); analyze, assess and make recommendations using the data as required by the business
• Build, troubleshoot, and maintain automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate
• Evaluate new technologies, studies, reports from EPRI and other industry user groups for applicability to the business
• Ensure relevant documentation is retained in accordance with company expectations including drawings, reference manuals, and other related information
• Follow company procedures including Practice of Engineering, Management of Change, and Project Management
• Perform other related duties as business needs arise and your skills / interests align
