Job Title: Â Â Â Â Â Â Summer Operations Intern

Summary:
Summer Operations Interns work with division administration and alongside custodial staff to assist with the logistics of moving and organizing instructional materials, furniture, and equipment. Interns may also assist with cleaning tasks in designated areas. Any cleaning tasks will be limited to the type of activities done in a typical home (washing, wiping, dusting, sweeping, etc.) and will not involve floor finishing/refinishing tasks. Scheduling may be flexible. The normal schedule for work will be Monday-Thursday between the hours of 7AM to 5PM, with a focus on specific hours needed to support moving tasks during the month of June. Applicants must be at least age 16.

Interns will start and end the work day at Walker Upper Elementary School (1564 Dairy Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22903) unless otherwise notified in advance, and if transportation is needed for interns to assist at other school sites, it will be provided by CCS staff in a CCS vehicle.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to follow directions and perform physical tasks promptly and efficiently. Attention to detail. Ability to use a wheeled moving dolly, hand truck, or platform truck. Awareness of surroundings/environment and conscientious regarding proper safety protocols and procedures.  Ability to operate office equipment such as a label maker or a copier machine.

Education and/or Experience:
Open to high school students, with preference to Charlottesville High School Students.

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work:
The work requires the following physical demands: Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull at least 75 lbs. Generally, the job requires 90% or more walking and standing. The work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
