Adult Residential Treatment & Recreation Internship

Latham Centers is seeking summer interns to support recreational and meaningful activities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) within group homes and community-based programs. This internship offers hands-on experience in direct care while providing insight into the role of recreational programming in DDS residential settings.

Locations: Wareham, MA and Yarmouth Port, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (flexible to accommodate educational or experiential needs)
Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the current designated diets, following dietary restrictions. 
  • Implement all support/behavior plans for individuals in the home. 
  • Attend all mandatory trainings and keep certifications current. 
  • Attend meetings and supervisions with manager and clinical staff as applicable. 
  • Effectively communicate with other staff, including outside providers, regarding individual’s status and progress. 
  • Provide brief supporting counseling and Crisis prevention as needed. 
  • Complete appropriate Electronic Record documentation daily. 
  • Transport clients as necessary. 
  • Support individual activities in the community as planned for the Latham Day supports program. 
  • Any work assigned shall be related to the Employee’s normal duties, except for occasional emergencies. 
Training & Requirements:
  • All required Latham trainings will be provided
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly
  • Valid driver’s license required to operate Latham vehicles, if necessary
  • This internship is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in residential care and recreational programming while making a meaningful impact in the lives of adults with ID/DD.
