Job Summary

This opportunity is for a university student enrolled in an Engineering major to gain valuable experience working at a local aerospace company. The intern will work with the Quality Assurance team where he/she will be provided meaningful assignments and have the opportunity to learn about Quality requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  This position supports quality, engineering, supply chain and operations by ensuring all documents meet customer requirements. The Intern will work with operations, program management, logistics, supply chain and others to ensure customer requirements for shipments are supported and accurately documented.

Primary Responsibilities:  The Quality Intern will:

  1. Prepare FAIR documents for customer submittal.
  2. Review and release product documentation based on customer requirements.
  3. Support on site customer source inspector visits.
  4. Review, store, send for scanning all job orders and associated documents to maintain full documentation and traceability of all finished product.
  5. Identify problems in the quality/document control process and seek resolution.
  6. Participate in lean initiatives including but not limited to: TOC, 6S, VSM, Kanban, Velocity, Throughput
  7. Maintain accurate records and files.
  8. Prepare non-conformances for disposition or submittal.
  9. Elevate identified issues to the next level.

Position Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These duties and responsibilities are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

  • General understanding of MRP logic and Lean concepts
  • Must be a team player and have sound judgment.
  • Beginning to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills to resolve and eliminate constraints.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to create and interpret charts, worksheets, etc. for the purpose of communicating status of the production process and product progress through the milestones.
  • Read, write and understand the English language.

 

 

Education/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • The Intern position is considered a part time position as the Intern is expected to be an actively enrolled student in an accredited university. The Intern must be in a Bachelor of Science (BS) curriculum in Engineering (or working towards this goal).
