The City of San Luis Obispo has three Planning Intern positions open in the Community Development Department! The Planning Interns provide general support for the Planning Division. Â Two positions are for a General Planning Internship, and one is a Housing Internship. All Interns assist professional planning and support staff by performing data collection, planning research, special projects, and other duties as required. The successful candidates will be placed at either an Intern III or Intern IV. Placement level is determined by the candidate's education and the department's operational needs.
The anticipated start date is in June 2026 and requires a year-long commitment. The work schedule consists of working around 15-20 hours a week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a year. Availability to work on Wednesdays or Thursdays is essential, and candidates must be able to work during the summer months.
