About The Point Project: The Point Project is a pioneering initiative within the Utah System of Higher Education, aimed at fostering innovation, industry growth, and ecosystem development. Situated at the cutting-edge Convergence Hall, the project serves as a hub for collaborative progress, integrating academic insights with real-world industry demands to nurture the next wave of innovation and economic development. Position Overview: We are seeking motivated and intellectually curious interns who are passionate about innovation, industry, start-ups, and ecosystem building. As an intern, you will dive deep into the world of innovation districts and ecosystems globally, conducting comprehensive research to understand the factors that contribute to their success or shortcomings. This role is ideal for students in research and business fields who aspire to influence the future of innovation and contribute to the development of a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. Location : Convergence Hall, The Point Project, Utah System of Higher Education (Hybrid/Remote) Duration and compensation: This position is temporary, non-benefited and approved to work up to 19 hours per week. Internship date range: is from May 1, 2024 up to September 5, 2024

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities: Conduct detailed research on global innovation districts and ecosystems, identifying key components of success and areas of improvement. Analyze various models of innovation ecosystems and assess their applicability to The Point Project’s strategic objectives. Collaborate with a dynamic team to synthesize research findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations. Engage with stakeholders to gather qualitative data and real-world perspectives on innovation ecosystem dynamics. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing research findings, highlighting trends, challenges, and opportunities in ecosystem development. Participate in workshops, seminars, and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of the latest trends in innovation and ecosystem building. Participate in events, marketing, and all other tasks or projects as assigned by department leadership. Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Utah institution of higher education, Experience with business, or a related field with a keen interest in innovation, industry, startups, and ecosystem building. Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. A passion for learning and a curiosity about various models of innovation and economic development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with research databases and tools. Interns must supply their own computer Learning Outcomes: Gain in-depth knowledge of global innovation districts and the factors influencing their success. Develop strong research, analytical, and strategic thinking skills. Enhance your ability to synthesize complex information and contribute to strategic planning processes. Build professional connections and gain insights into the intersection of academia, industry, and government in ecosystem development.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications High School Diploma, or equivalency Currently enrolled in a Utah institution of higher education. Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and present it clearly and concisely. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with research databases and tools.
