MECHANICAL ENGINEERING INTERN (PLTX)

Bowhead seeks an Mechanical Engineering Intern to support our Maufacutirng and Engineering department in Plano, TX. 

Essential functions will include:

• Create and modify detailed 3D solid models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings using SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, weldments, sheet metal, configurations, etc.).
• Update and maintain existing CAD models, drawings, and BOMs (Bill of Materials) to reflect design changes or manufacturing feedback.
• Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, fixtures, jigs, and tooling for prototyping and production builds.
• Participate in cost estimation activities, including material take-offs, labor hour projections, vendor quoting support, and preliminary pricing analysis for mechanical builds and prototypes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, procurement, quality) to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet project requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a Engineering curriculum at a College/University and have successfully completed one year with a minimum GPA of 2.5

• Basic ability to generate, read and interpret fabrication drawings.

• Basic knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and how to apply to fabrication and manufacturing processes.

• Ability to communicate and work with all levels of the organization.

• Preferred experience in Solidworks, and Microsoft 365 suite applications.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check.  Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required.  Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
