We’re looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to assist with the design, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems for a variety of building projects. This role is ideal for someone with a basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles who is eager to learn and contribute in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This position will report to our office location in Arlington, TN. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned. • Assist with the design and basic analysis of mechanical systems using industry-standard tools• Support the development of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial and institutional projects• Help prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior engineers• Use Revit and other BIM tools to assist in developing coordinated designs• Participate in occasional site visits and help document observations• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and team members to support project goals and code compliance• Assist in reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness• Communicate with team members to help meet project deadlines• Provide support for proposals, project scopes, and technical tasks as needed Minimum Qualifications: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering• EIT certification is a plus but not required• Internship or academic project experience in mechanical systems preferred• Basic familiarity with Revit or similar design software• Understanding of HVAC and mechanical system fundamentals• Familiarity with industry codes (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC) is a plus• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail• Good written and verbal communication skills• Ability to work well in a team environment Additional Qualifying Factors: As a condition of employment, you may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Necessary Physical Requirements: The physical demands described are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work may occur both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when on-site. The position also requires the ability to remain attentive and engaged. Working Conditions Work is performed in a mix of office and field environments. Office work involves extended computer use. Fieldwork may include exposure to weather conditions, uneven terrain, and construction site environments, including noise, dust, and other typical site conditions.
