The Home Loan Post Closer Intern plays a key role in assisting with reviewing signed closing documents for completeness, accuracy and proper documentation. They also set up home loans in the servicing system, set up payment options, send welcome emails to borrowers, and follow proper steps to ensure activation of PMI, when applicable. This internship will offer a look into the mortgage and home equity lending industry and offer real world experience.Â

Work Location: Onsite; Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI
Work Schedule: Part-Time (15 hours) during MSUFCU business hours Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm. Ideally working 3 days, 5 hours each day.
Paid Hourly Internship:Â $15.00+/hour
Duration: Summer Semester only beginning May 6th and ending in Mid-August.
An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.Â
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews signed closing documents for completeness, accuracy and proper documentation.
Tracks the status of the required signed closing documents and follows up to ensure the timely receipt of signed closing documents.
Sets up home loans in servicing system, sets up payment options, sends welcome emails to borrowers, and follows proper steps to ensure activation of PMI, when applicable.
Identifies and offers credit union products and services to members.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Â
High school diploma or equivalent required
Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in a business related field of study
Interest and/or a background in consumer lending, home lending experience preferredÂ
Demonstrates empathy and a commitment to providing superior member service
Ability to assess member needs and offer alternatives
Displays high level of integrity
Seeks continuous learning and improvement through feedback and other means
Ability to be a self-starter and work successfully in a team-oriented environment
High level of both written and oral communication skills
