JOB SUMMARY:
The HIM Coding Supervisor serves as an additional support to the coding staff and HIM Manager. The Coding Supervisor�s primary function will be to oversee the daily operations of coding activities and will be trained to fill in on various coding department duties as designated by the HIM Manager.

- $28.37/hr +DOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficient in assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS classifications.
- Demonstrates an understanding of CCI and OCE edits, along with compliant modifier assignment.
- Serves as an initial point of contact for coding staff questions, troubleshoots coding issues, leads staff to supported solutions, facilitates research, and brings unresolved questions to the HIM Manager for additional resolution.
- Participates in providing education to coding staff through various means including, but not limited to, webinar recommendations, written education, meetings/huddles, and continued training.
- Collaborates with the HIM Manager for annual budgeting specific to coding certification, education, and activity needs.
- Conducts coding staff communication huddles to facilitate coding support, collaboration, consistency, and continued education.
- Reviews coding staff productivity and benchmarking reports, reports any concerns to the HIM Manager, and works with low performers to remove barriers and increase efficiency and quality.
- Collaborates with the HIM Manager on the creation and revisions of coding policies and procedures.
- Communicates current coding issues and updates to the HIM Manager.
- Acts as the subject matter expert for consulting on codes and coding workflow for new service line implementation or updates to established service lines.
- Is involved in identifying provider coding education and documentation needs, creating content, and may assist with the delivery of LHC provider coding education topics based on the HIM Manager�s direction.
- Provides coverage in HIM Manager�s absence as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- Five years of coding experience or equivalent. Preferred experience, or ability to demonstrate competency, in both inpatient and outpatient coding.
- Current coding credential through either AAPC or AHIMA.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge in Rural Health Clinic and Critical Access Hospital reimbursement methodologies preferred.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft office and business office products.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
