About the Southern Texas PGA
The Southern Texas Section of the PGA of America is composed of over 1,000 golf professionals representing over 300 facilities in Southern Texas. The purpose of our organization is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry.
One of the largest parts of the STPGA is its Junior Golf Program, with over 5,100 junior members and over 550 tournaments a year. This program entails tournaments for the beginner golfer all the way to the highly skilled high school golfer.
Internship Overview
The Southern Texas PGA is looking for a Digital Media/Videography Intern. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student in marketing, digital media, communications, or digital communications. The intern will be primarily responsible for assisting with the Section and Foundation’s marketing and communications activities, covering tournaments, seminars, and other events.
This internship will begin 8/18/2026 through 12/16/2026. Dates are flexible based on schedules.
Job Responsibilities – Digital Media
● Photograph events for coverage on social media and create post-event photo galleries
● Help maintain an active presence on various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube
● Facilitate graphic design requests (tournament signage, marketing materials, editing images, etc.)
● Draft communication materials, including email newsletters, press releases, and social media copy
● Assist in managing and updating content on www.stpga.com and www.stpgajuniorgolf.com
● May assist tournament operations staff with on-site tasks as needed
● Be on-site at junior/professional golf events throughout the season
Job Responsibilities – Videography
● Video events for highlight videos and future promotional content
● Edit short- and long-form video content for use on social media and website
● Interview juniors, parents, and PGA Professionals
● Catalog and label video content in proper manner for storage and future use
Qualifications
● Candidate must provide a portfolio of professional work, sports and videography experience preferred.
● Candidate must be self-motivated, possess good organizational skills, is detail-oriented, can prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
● Proven graphic design, photo, and video editing skills
● Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva (Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere knowledge preferred)
● An effective communicator, both written and oral
● Energetic and outgoing – willing to communicate with parents and members
● Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work outside
● Must be able to work weekends and travel
● Interest in a career in sports media preferred
● Must be located in or willing to relocate to Houston, TX
● Basic knowledge of the game of golf is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
● $10.00 per hour + $15 per hour after 40 hours per week
● All travel expenses covered or partially covered based on event location
● STPGA staff apparel and uniforms
● Access to STPGA Golf Facilities
● $300 bonus after completion of ENTIRE internship
