This internship is unique compared to other Data Analytics internships because it provides hands-on experience working with real operational data, where interns build and maintain reporting tools that support business decisions across the organization. Rather than observing projects, interns directly contribute by transforming large datasets, improving analytics processes, and developing dashboards used by employees and leadership.

Internship Location

This internship is located at the Steel Dynamics Heartland Flat Roll Division located in Terre Haute, IN. This internship will take place Summer 2026.

What Are My Responsibilities as a Data Analytics Intern at Steel Dynamics?

• Develop and maintain reports in PowerBI, SSRS and Powerbuilder.
• Support data cleansing, transformation, and modeling efforts to ensure accuracy and consistency across multiple data sources.
• Document and standardize recurring analytics processes to improve reporting efficiency and sustainability.

What Qualifications Do I Need?

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• GPA of 2.7 or above
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Comfortable programmatically transforming large datasets.
• Understanding of Data Visualization principles.
• Self-motivated, eager to learn, and proactive in finding data-driven solutions.
• Strong communication skills to successfully interact with employees and management.

Preferred

• Experience with Data Visualization tools (PowerBI, Qlik Sense, Tableau).
• Familiarity with SQL, DAX for automating and connecting datasets.
