The Customer Service and Logistics Intern position provides front line leadership support to employees who are responsible in delivering Hill’s products to pet stores and veterinary clinics. The CS&L intern will gain supervisory experience in accordance with the organization’s policies, applicable laws, and DOT regulations.  Responsibilities include training employees; rewarding and coaching employees, manage customer service issues, and lead an efficiency project that will improve the network’s performance by applying data analytics.     

The Summer Internship period is typically from late May through mid-September. The location will be in a Hill's warehouse location, which could be in Nashville, KY, Chester, NY, Boston, MA, Baltimore, MA, Los Angeles, CA, Dallas, TX or Denver, CO. A stipend will be provided to assist with housing for the summer.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Researches and implements cost savings initiatives for the area to improve productivity,  safety, or customer service
• Work with Customer Fulfillment field leadership and Operations Manager to lead one key initiative to implement in all locations that drives continuous improvement and funds growth
• Gain understanding to monitor daily route performance through onboard technology system, coordinates routing improvements, and coaches employees
• Conducts training and leads team meetings.  Develops training for Customer Fulfillment that will improve efficiency and effectiveness to safely deliver world class customer service and safety training
• Support daily operations of the local Customer Fulfillment team to learn key Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance

Education/ Experience Requirements

• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
• Have completed junior year by May of 2020
• Graduate on or before May 2021
• Degree focus in Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, Logistics, Supply Chain or related degree program
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, email
• Strong analytical skills, communication skills, and ability to plan and prioritize
• Willing to relocate within the US for the summer internship (location TBD)
• Willing to relocate within the US after graduation
• Ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds
