Position Overview
The HOP is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Engagement Intern to support our marketing, outreach, and communications efforts. This role is perfect for a college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business who enjoys interacting with the public, representing a mission-driven organization, and bringing creative ideas to life.
The Community Engagement Intern will play a key role in helping us connect with riders and the community at large through events, social media, and outreach initiatives. This position offers hands-on experience in community relations, marketing, and public engagement within the public transit industry.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, work, and tear down community and campus event booths (including tents and tables as needed)
- Represent The HOP at public events, engaging with attendees and promoting awareness of our services
- Collect and document engagement data, including number of attendees, common questions, feedback, and popular promotional items
- Provide post-event reports and summaries to the Marketing Director
- Support the creation of social media content and other marketing materials
- Assist with various marketing, communications, and outreach projects as needed
- Serve as an ambassador for the brand and spread enthusiasm for public transportation
Requirements:
- Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license
- Ability to lift boxes and set up event materials (tents, tables, banners, etc.)
- Positive, outgoing personality and strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently and responsibly when needed
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document engagement activities accurately
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, and social media platforms
Work Schedule & Compensation:
- Paid internship up to $15/hour (based on experience)
- Part-time, up to 15 hours per week (depending on the season and event schedule)
- Some evening and weekend availability required for community events
- Hybrid position: based at our Belton, TX office with fieldwork assignments
