INTERN TITLE: Calvary Kids Early Childhood Intern
DEPARTMENT: Calvary Kids
REPORTS TO:  Early Childhood Manager
DAYS/HOURS: 20-25h/week, Wednesday - Sunday
LOCATION: Fort Lauderdale Campus

Role of Early Childhood Intern:

As an Early Childhood intern, you must have a passion to serve God and help perform many functions essential to weekly church service, as well as have a passion to disciple, train, and lead children in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. As an intern, you will provide a safe place for children and leaders to serve and worship Jesus!

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Assist Wiggles & Worship leaders during worship and small group time for preschoolers.
  • Upload, organize, and select weekly Bible stories and songs in ProPresenter.
  • Helping to film and edit Wiggles & Worship training videos.
  • Disciple, train, and lead Sound Booth volunteers.
  • Communicate with the Early Childhood Manager for new music and curriculum.
  • Perform tasks such as check-in, group communication, planning events, and running Wiggles & Worship and small groups when necessary.
  • Plan monthly decorations according to the First Look theme.
  • Create/review Bible story activities for children.
  • Support Service Coordinators and volunteers during service.
  • Assist the Calvary Kids hospitality team when necessary.
  • Help the Calvary Kids team during the main events and celebrations (Move Up Weekend, Kids Conference, Volunteer Appreciation, Global Missions, and outreaches).
  • Plan and help to decorate Calvary Kids areas for Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, and other special celebrations.

  • Build effective lesson planning and teaching skills.
  • Write and lead children’s Bible lessons.
  • Use storytelling, crafts, games, and music to engage kids.
Teamwork & Relationship Building
  • Develop strong relationships with children and families.
  • Learn names, stories, and prayer needs of kids and their parents.
  • Assist in creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and church staff.
  • Understand how to support and lead volunteers.
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and planning sessions.
Program Development & Administration
  • Learn the behind-the-scenes of children’s ministry.
  • Assist with organizing events (Wiggles & Worship Christmas Play, Kids Conference, Family Game Night, etc).
  • Understand safety policies, check-in systems, and logistics.
  • Evaluate and improve ministry experiences.
  • Gather feedback from kids, parents, and volunteers.
  • Reflect on what worked, what didn’t, and why.
Discernment & Calling
  • Explore vocational calling and ministry fit.
  • Journal and reflect on experiences weekly.
  • Meet regularly with a mentor to discuss strengths, challenges, and next steps.

Work Schedule:

Wednesday: 9a - 4p (Flexible hours)
Thursday: 9a - 4p (Flexible hours except for Staff huddle from 9a - 10:30a)
Friday: 9a - 2p (Intern cohort) 
Saturday: 4p - 8p
Sunday: 8a - 2p

*Hours and days may vary depending on campus-wide events taking place. Additionally, you may have to bend, sit, or stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, pull, push and/or move up to 35 lbs.
