Job Description Summary
At this exciting time of change, The College of Arts and Sciences ( CAS ) is seeking applications for the position of Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. Reporting to the Dean, this is one of two Associate Deans. Specific scope of responsibilities will be determined based on areas of relative strength of the candidate and fit within the existing strengths and needs of the College administration. The successful candidate will be a tenured Associate or Full Professor at Oakland University in a CAS department. In addition, this individual will have administrative experience at the level of program director, chair, or equivalent. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated focus on student success and on the ability to take a College- and/or University-wide perspective in addressing challenges and opportunities. We are looking for individuals who work collegially and deal effectively—often in complex, ambiguous and changing situations. Preference will be given to individuals with one or more of the following qualities and experience: Experience with extramural funding (especially federal) Experience with undergraduate education Experience with community-based scholarship and/or teaching Experience working across traditional disciplinary boundaries Creative and inclusive problem solving approach Experience with assessment and data informed decision making Experience with curriculum development and evaluation Demonstrated commitment to student success Demonstrated commitment to diversity This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students, as well as the College and the University.
